Dark Tales from the North Country

MG Horror

Twelve-year-old Louisa fears the ghostly white moths that swarm around her home in the Adirondack Mountains. They sneak inside through open doors and windows. They follow her through the woods whenever she goes hiking. They fly in her face and crawl across her skin, making her shiver and shriek. Louisa’s mother says the moths are harmless, but Louisa is sure Mom’s wrong.

Then, one moonlit night, the swarm casts a spell on Mom, and steals her soul.

Mom survives the attack, but now spends her days staring into space, refusing to speak. Only Louisa and her adventurous friend Sammy believe that the white moths are the cause of Mom’s illness, so it’s up to them to find the moths’ lair and rescue Mom’s soul. But the moths have their own plans for Louisa. They speak to her in dreams and haunt her with visions only she can see, hinting that Louisa might soon join them forever. To fight them, Louisa must overcome her fear and master her own dark magic.

Or lose her soul to the swarm.
